Capital criminal law

Capital punishment law covers particularly serious crimes, since only those acts that are directed against human life are covered by capital punishment law:

  • Murder (§ 211 StGB)

  • Manslaughter (§ 212 StGB)

  • Bodily assault resulting in death (§ 227 StGB)

  • Robbery resulting in death (§ 251 StGB)

  • Robbery theft resulting in death (§ 252 StGB)

  • Predatory extortion resulting in death (§ 255 StGB)

These are crimes. There is therefore a risk of a minimum prison sentence of one year up to a life sentence. In addition, pre-trial detention is often ordered.
